Thank you Super Mall...

Just on the outskirts of Nice there's a big mall called Cap 3000.  It's really big and has the one and only Starbucks in the South of France (that is until the Monaco one opens in a month!!! YEAH!!!-but that's not what this post is about, I digress)

Btw...this is how packed this place is ALL the time!  Hint hint.  (wake up France!)
Anyway, I thank the lovely Client that is the Cap 3000 for making my teenage dreams of being a fashion model come true and hiring me to do their Winter Magazine shoot last week.  They do a magazine highlighling different outfits made up from stores found in the mall.

I do love to work and there isn't very much here, so when the opportunity comes along I get a bit giddy.

Here are some snaps I grabbed as the photog viewed the work.

I was told that it's the last magazine they're going to be making, so I'm even more excited that I'm in their "Swan Song" issue.  When the magazine comes out I'll post what pics made it in. :)  Stay tuned...

UPDATE:  December 2013

Here are the winning shots for the Cap 3000 magazine....

Super cool, I'm the cover!

And there you have it.  I must say it's kinda cool having people I know here in Monaco, moms of school kids and the coffee guy at my local stop, ask me if that's me.  They didn't know what I did for a living.  My fifteen minutes. :)

Back to School Sale...

It's September, and that means....school supplies lists.  And lucky me, it's in French.

So, yesterday I spent the day roaming the aisles in Carrefour hoping the items I needed would just leap off the shelves into my cart so I wouldn't have to keep deciphering the list and asking every mom who looked nice enough what the heck each item was.

A "porte-vue personnalisable" or a "chemise avec rabats"?  Help!  Well, after some hair pulling and a lot of asking, I finally filled my cart and headed home.  Now to label everything...some jobs are never done. :)  At least this year they informed me to buy pre-formed plastic covers for the books and notebooks so I didn't have to sit for hours making them out of plastic sheets like last year.  Thanks Monaco. :)

A Room for Two...

So, now that we're in and unpacked, we took a trip to our local "Ikea" called Fly.

We were looking for furniture for the kid's room, bunk beds and such.  Now, I'm not a huge fan of the bunk bed since I heard that a large percent of emergency room visits for kids are from falling off the top bunk.  T has lost enough teeth thank you very much.  But in France, even down here, space is limited.  And they fell in love with the tent spaces.

So here is our adventure in pics...

They were huge fans of the tent style bedding...

Hmmm, but who gets to sleep on this bed?  Emm was putting her bid in on this one.

T zeroed in on his bed choice...

Emm's new boyfriend...
Seriously!!  I know smoking is big, but does one REALLY need an ashtray this big??

I really wanted to go to my favorite Ikea and get what I wanted, but the nearest one is two hours away.  So....

We ended up getting a bed like the pink one with tented space underneath from another company called Conforama, again like Ikea, but have to wait weeks for it to come in.  Didn't go for the ashtray, much to Emm's dismay, but did go with a little table and chairs (colored ones rather than the dull wood tone) for them to play with play dough and do art on.

The room is coming together and they're having fun with each other playing in there.  That's about all I can ask for really!  Here is a pick of the before and after so far....

We're getting there...

I just love the monster blankets!  To be continued.....
